Josto

I took my wife for her birthday to Josto and it was a near-perfect experience. We both chose the tasting menu which we could barely finish, but every dish was exquisite and well presented. What I truly enjoyed was the perfectly balanced atmosphere. On one hand, sophisticated and elegant food, on the other hand a friendly and comfortable vibe from the waiters and staff as well as from the vinyl player in the corner. Amazing food and some Dire Straits, i don’t need more. We felt the whole wine pairing was a bit much, yet they really felt we’d be missing out so they offered to share a wine pairing for the 2 of us (trust me, the glasses didn’t look like half glasses). Top class experience, definitely would come back!

Josto is a mandatory restaurant in Cagliari! The interior is already a piece of art with a plus of the kitchen exposed where you can watch the chefs finalizing the courses. The staff and services were impeccable, giving you complete explanations about the courses. They have a sommelier that can guide you through their large list of good wines from Sardinia and the stories about the producers behind some bottles. Food is delicious, no words to describe it! The whole experience, environment was amazing, thanks Josto!

Cagliari is a hidden gem- for Americans anyway- and so is Josto. Tucked away on a small street and offering an exceptional tasting menu. I was going to use the word "perfection" to describe this place but was worried I was doing too much. Then I looked at google reviews and saw I wasn’t the only person who had this word on their mind after dining here. It's not just the food and wine- which are immaculate- it's the ambiance, it's the art on the walls, and the music. There isn't a detail missed at Josto. I miss it so very much.

Date night and second time at Josto! My husband and I love this small hidden restaurant near the port and we book it pretty easily. The service is friendly and warm and the menu fresh, well curated and exceptionally refined for a city that loves tradition. But at Josto the chef has managed to translate fresh, local and traditional in a incredible mouthwatering journey through an elegant and delicious selection of the very best ingredients this island can offer. We ordered the selection of startes then two mains, I ordered the red tuna and my husband the aubergine ravioli. Each mouthful was an explosion of flavours and a hug to my palate at the same time. The tartare with strawberry sauce (which I normally avoid around the world) was to die for as were the carrots (carrots … what can they be?)… I will never look at carrots the same way. Also the mains were delicious. The service was very good and the chef came unexpectedly to check on us which was very appreciated. If I may add just one tiny suggestion… if the staff could advise what to start with with the selection of starters.. from the mildest flavours to the more intense… just to ensure the best mouthwatering journey through these fabulous dishes. Thank you Josto for the incredible food, we will come back and as a Cagliaritana, thank you for providing such a refreshing experience of our traditional food. Proud and happy!
